FULLER’S EARTH

Dymaxion Projection 1946

Porcelain, inlay, oxides, gold leaf. 2022.

Edition 1 of 5

An alternative viewpoint to the Mercator projection which  separates continents, Fuller’s projection is often used to show  ancient migration routes. It is based on an icosahedron and  triangulates the globe showing the connectivity of the Earth’s  land masses, and brings a viewpoint of the continents as ‘one  island’ in ‘one ocean’ much the same view as witnessed by the  Apollo astronauts.

Bespoke animation created by Zoe Prosser Thinkfarm in collaboration with Helen Cooper MapitOut and Loraine Rutt
